How do I place an order?

You can place an order online by selecting the items you would like from our online catalogue found here. Alternatively, you could contact us directly and we would be happy to help you personally.

If you are ordering online, you need to pay by credit or debit card. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Delta, Electron, Eurocard, Switch, Maestro and Solo. Unfortunately we do not accept American Express or Diners Club. We will confirm your order by email immediately after it has been made.

If you would prefer to order over the phone and send a cheque or arrange for some other form of payment, please contact us and we will be happy to advise you how to do this.

How secure is the payment system you use?

We use Protx – the largest independent payment service provider in the UK . The Protx payment system uses a combination of established and innovative techniques to ensure the security and integrity of all sensitive data. The internet facing web servers are certified by verifying, this ensures that no third parties can impersonate Protx to attain secure information.

The transfer of the transaction details to Protx is 128bit encrypted and digitally signed. This ensures that the information passed is secure and tamper proof.

When in Kenya , you are invited to come and visit our showroom at Sandstorm Africa, located in the Lenana Forest Centre (off Ngong Road ) near the airport in Nairobi . When in Edinburgh , you can see a selection of our bags at the Sandstorm International office located here .

Sandstorm has an active trade show exhibition programme throughout the year in the UK , the USA and Europe plus we feature in selected consumer fairs and equestrian events.

How long will delivery take?

We process all orders within 24 hours and if all items are in stock, we will dispatch your order by courier the next business day. How long the courier takes to arrive depends on the delivery address but please allow up to 7 days. If your order has not arrived within 7 days, please contact us and we will be happy to help trace your order.

What is your returns policy?

We're sure you will be delighted with your Sandstorm purchase. However if you are not satisfied please call us on +44 (0)131 225 8510 and we will be happy to organise a refund. All we ask is that goods are returned within 30 days.

Where are Sandstorm bags made?

Sandstorm products are all handcrafted at Sandstorm Africa in Kenya . You can find out more about the operation and see pictures of some of the craftspeople making Sandstorm bags here .

Where do the craftspeople come from?

Most of the craftsmen and women are from the Luo tribe, who come from an area known as the Lake Basin on the Kenyan side of Lake Victoria . This is the second biggest lake in the world which is at 3000 feet above sea level and borders three countries – Kenya , Tanzania and Uganda .

The land surrounding the lake is lush agricultural land, but fishing is the predominant income earner for the communities living around the lake. The Luo tribe place strong emphasis on family values and live in close knit communities. They are very neat in appearance and attire which is reflected in their work. They have nimble fingers so are particularly good at stitching and are very pedantic in their work, maintaining close attention to detail and immaculate finish. This harks back to their heritage of repairing fishing nets around Lake Victoria .

What are the conditions like?

At Sandstorm Africa, all of the craftspeople are individually contracted. This process ensures good continuity and a fair and open reward system with each person. There is no minimum wage and nobody is younger than 18 years old.

Sandstorm takes corporate responsibility seriously and makes every effort in all areas of the business, to trade fairly and act in an environmentally friendly manner. Sandstorm is also a proud supporter of the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and choose to promote their excellent work whenever possible.

What is the best way to care for my Sandstorm bag?

Sandstorm bags are hand made from the finest quality materials and are designed to improve with age. You really do not need to do anything special to care for your bag but we do offer some guidelines here.
